Toadies Asbury Park Concert reviews
Missing the Old Ray
We went to the Blue Hills Pavilion on a lovely summer night for what we thought would be a relaxing evening at our favorite venue. Toadies finally got on stage at 8:15pm, and we were excited to hear his soulful voice. He performed three of our top songs before announcing that his band would join him on stage. I overheard some young girls next to me mention something about Morning Jacket, but I wasn't familiar with them. The band then launched into some Pink Floyd-esque psychedelic music that wasn't to my liking. After about 30 minutes with no end in sight, we decided to wander around the arena, hoping for Toadies to return. Unfortunately, he never did, and the show didn't return to the familiar sound we were expecting. It seemed like many others in the audience also shared our disappointment, as we noticed several people leaving before the performance ended. We left feeling quite disappointed.
